S’edav Va’aki

Ancestral Home of the O'odham

A Sacred Central
Place of Gathering
and Ceremony

Rooted in the ancestral lands of the O’odham people, the Foundation is dedicated to honoring, preserving, and sharing the living history, culture, and enduring legacy of this sacred place.

We respectfully acknowledge that S’edav Va’aki Museum stands on a 1,500-year-old archaeological site once inhabited by the ancestors of the O'Odham people, people, known archaeologically as the Hohokam (Huhugam) culture. We honor the deep history, ingenuity, and stewardship of this land by its original inhabitants, and recognize the enduring presence and contributions of Indigenous peoples connected to this region today. We are committed to preserving this history with respect, integrity, and continued learning.

— Preserving The Central Place —

Where ancestral roots and living culture continue to guide and inspire.

S’edav Va’aki Museum offers a meaningful gateway to the rich and sophisticated lifeways of the ancestral Sonoran Desert people. For more than a thousand years, this site has been a center of trade, ceremony, and innovative irrigation practices that sustained thriving communities.

” This land is not a relic of the past–it is a living foundation that shapes our present and guides our shared future.”

— Museum Foundation Mission

The S’edav Va’aki Museum Foundation is committed to supporting archaeological research, caring for the site, and strengthening meaningful partnerships with Tribal communities to ensure this sacred place is protected for generations.
